We are happy to announce our next 'Crafternoon Tea' session, which will take place on the evening of Thursday 1st October, from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. Come along to this creative and fun sewing workshop! Bring a couple of items of clothing you’d like to transform, and learn some alteration skills.
This is the perfect class for you if you have any items of clothing which you no longer like or that no longer fit you. The ones that sit in your wardrobe and you think "if only I could change a few details"; like take it in or let it out in a few places, shorten or lengthen it, change the sleeves or shape, etc!
This workshop is not suitable for complete beginners if your project involves using a sewing machine. You will need to have some basic sewing experience and know how to use a sewing machine. If you are a complete beginner you may still attend the class by taking up a project which only involves hand sewing and/or the use of an iron (e.g sewing on beads, sequins, ribbons, trimmings, buttons, hemming and simple tacking).
This class will be taught by Michelle and Jenny who have been sewing for years. Michelle is a trained dressmaker and has spent the last 8 years working in many different theatre wardrobe departments, altering costumes for actors on a daily basis. Jenny also has experience in altering costumes for theatre and has also worked in altering wedding and bridesmaids dresses.
Materials Required:
Bring along two items of clothing. We will provide all materials and equipment, but you’re welcome to bring along anything specific you might like to use in your project. If you have a sewing machine you'd prefer to bring and use, you are welcome to do so.
Class Duration: 2 hours
Class Size: Up to 8 people
Cost: £25, including a coffee/tea/soft drink of your choice and a piece of cake.
Date and times:
